No summer breaks for the pro athletes, and so did the pro league events continue with 2 smallers shows yday. At Omaha Pro figure..

Candice Lewis won for the second time at the Omaha Pro Figure Championships on Saturday night in Nebraska, successfully defending the title she won a year ago.

It was the first win of 2013 for Lewis and her sixth overall since earning her pro card at the 2011 NPC Junior Nationals. She’s come a long way in a year – her win last year was the first of her career, and jump-started a season in which she finished first a record-tying five times. Only two other Figure competitors – Nicole Wilkins and Erin Stern – have won five times in a single season. Lewis had placed fourth (Figure International) and third (Australia Grand Prix) in her two previous contests this year.

Camala Rodriguez, fresh of her first career win at the California Pro two weeks ago, finished second. Rodriguez made the switch to the Figure division last fall after spending the first three years of her career competing in Fitness.

Aleisha Hart placed third to help her pick up three points in the Olympia Qualification Series, moving her into a tie with Swann Cardot for third in the standings with nine points. Kim Sheppard (4th) and Allison Frahn (5th) rounded out the top five.

Arnold Classic 2014 adds men’s -212 bodybuilding, drops women’s bodybuilding which was part of the AC for 25 years.

    http://arnoldsportsfestival.com/bulletins/ASF_News/2013-06/ASF29

The Arnold Sports Festival will add the 212-pound professional men’s bodybuilding division to its IFBB Pro League contests in 2014, event promoter Jim Lorimer announced today.
The men’s bodybuilding lightweight division has become one of the IFBB Pro League’s most popular since being introduced in 2008 as the 202-pound division. The allowed weight was increased to 212 pounds effective November 2011.
The first-annual Arnold Classic 212 will be held Feb. 28, 2014. Prejudging will be held from noon-2 p.m. at the Arnold Fitness EXPO Stage, with finals sets for 7 p.m. that night at Veterans Memorial.
The Arnold Classic 212 will replace the Ms. International women’s bodybuilding competition at the Arnold Sports Festival. The Ms. International was part of the Arnold Sports Festival for 25 years, with Iris Kyle winning her record seventh title in 2013.
“The Arnold Sports Festival was proud to support women’s bodybuilding through the Ms. International for the past quarter century,” Lorimer said. “But in keeping with demands of our fans, the time has come to introduce the Arnold Classic 212 beginning in 2014. We are excited to create a professional competitive platform for some of the IFBB Pro League’s most popular competitors.”
The 2014 Arnold Sports Festival will again feature five IFBB Pro League events: men’s bodybuilding, 212 men’s bodybuilding, women’s fitness, figure and bikini.

2013 AFBF ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – SEMIFINALS

    by Andrew Michalak
    All photos by http://www.eastlabs.biz.

2013 AFBF (IFB:cool: Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships are progressing well. Saturday was the day of semifinals in all categories with more than 6 athletes. They are almost all men’s bodybuilding categories plus junior heavyweight and masters. In a new IFBB judging system introduced and supervised by the IFBB Judges Committee Chairman Pawel Filleborn, all 9 panel judges delivered their top five athletes proposals in the semifinals and those athletes who were mentioned by most of the judges were called out to the first comparison, then the second five comparison, third five and, sometimes more.

In all categories the battle was close and tough as the quality of the top athletes were perfect. Attention was paid to the improper use of tanning / bronzing products as well as to the unnatural look (shape) of muscles, what might be caused by the injection of some external fluids. This has been a minor problem till now but IFBB decided to react quickly and decisively, with zero tolerance. The same regarding the expanding stomach but there were no such cases at these Championships.

Sunday finals will be a very exciting show as most of the finalists are perfectly prepared to this event, displaying incredible combination of muscle size and quality (separation, details, hardness). And tomorrow they will perform their posing routines. On Sunday also the Asian women will come into play, and there are more women athletes at these Asian Championships than ever before.

The AFBF Congress will take place in the morning, so the finals will start at 15:00 (3:00 pm) local time (10:00 am GMT). Looking at the List of finalist we can come to the conclusion that it is like an East Asia vs. West Asia match, with Central Asia athletes trying to make them some problems in some categories. But this reflects the current “balance of power” in Asian men’s bodybuilding. In women’s physique sports Central and East Asia are the main players. The new AFBF President Shake Abdulla Al Khalifa initiative is aimed to make the women’s physique sport development in Asia more equalized.

Now, have a look how the battle was run in the semifinals.

    2013 ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS JUST STARTED

    by Andrew Michalak

    illnew01-1.jpg

First time in the Asian bodybuilding history the best physique sports athletes from all parts of the continent came to Kazakhstan, the country located at the junction of Europe and Asia (Ural River). National Teams were coming to Almaty all Friday, even late in the evening. But the Championships started with the Press Conference at 15:00, run by the Asian Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness [AFBF] President Sheikh Abdulla Bin Rashid Al Khalifa of Bahrain, with the IFBB General Secretary William Tierney, IFBB Judges Committee Chairman Pawel Filleborn, Kazakhstan Federation General Secretary Alexander Kolyuka and myself sitting at the head table. Many different questions were asked by the press and TV journalists. Sheikh Abdulla revealed his five-point plan of further physique sports development in Asia. The plan will be discussed in details at the AFBF Congress Sunday morning. Also he introduced the first chairwoman of the recently created AFBF Women’s Committee: Dr. Reem Jaffar Al Bareeq.

After the Press Conference the next important meeting took place: Team Managers and Judges Meeting. Mr. Pawel Filleborn discussed the new approach to physique sports judging and the current judging system. After the detailed technical discussion, the room was re-arranged to run the registration of athletes and weigh-in. Athletes were coming to registration as National Teams, not by categories this time.

Because of the great number of athletes (over 160), the whole procedure lasted till the midnight. Enclosed is the finals list of registered athletes. We saw many top quality men bodybuilders, with deeply separated and shredded muscles. Also women bodyfitness and fitness athletes with delicate, nicely shaped silhouettes.

Many categories will have full semifinals and in few of them the elimination round will be needed. Many countries entered big teams of over 10 competitors, with the Kazakhstan Team over 20 athletes. From what we could see during the registration, the Championships will have very close battles in most of categories, and the quality of athletes will be amazing. Below are pictures showing top athletes and the climate of the event. More information tomorrow. Stay tuned!…

ALMATY IS READY TO WELCOME ASIAN COMPETITORS AND OFFICIALS

    by Andrew Michalak

Europe has already staged its continental championships. Both Americas will have their continentals later this year. Now there is a time for Asia. The 2013 Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. There is a third time in a row, after Ulan Bator, Mongolia, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, that Asian Championships are staged in Central Asia. Moreover, this year’s IFBB World Juniors and Masters Championships will also take place there, in Ulan Bator. So, this region, which was a “terra incognita” (blank spot) on the bodybuilding map of the world even a dozen years ago, now has become very active.

Kazakhstan, like Uzbekistan and few other countries in Central Asia, was a part of the Russian Empire, then Soviet Union and emerged as an independent country in 1991. But, while located primarily in Asia, a small portion of Kazakhstan is also located west of the Ural River, in Eastern Europe! So, most precisely is to say that Kazakhstan is located in the center of Eurasia.

Kazakhstan is a big country, with the area of 2,700,000 sq. km, larger than Western Europe, but the population is 16.6 million people. The capital city is Astana, but Almaty (known also as Alma-Ata) is a former capital (from 1929 till 1997) and the largest city in the country, with population of 1.5 million people. Sometimes it is called the “Southern capital” of Kazakhstan.

The venue for the Championships, Baluan Sholak Palace of Culture and Sports, was constructed in 1967 and underwent renovation for staging 2011 Asian Winter Games. The number of seats were increased to 5000 and the closing ceremony of the Games was also held in the Palace. Closing the Games, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the Asian Winter Games had shown off the quality of Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and facilities and demonstrated its major event capabilities.

Almaty mayor Akhmetzhan Yesimov told the audience – „We are not saying goodbye. I am sure there will be more meetings in the future.” And after 2011 Asian Handball Championships, 2012 World Judo Championships and 2012 Asian Volleyball Championships, IFBB is coming into this Palace to show the beauty and power of women’s and men’s physique. Strength training has become very popular among Kazakhstan’s society. Enough to say that their national team won a couple of medals and was the second best team in juniors and subjuniors divisions at the latest IPF World Bench Press Championships in Lithuania. Within few days their bodybuilders will combat for medals at the Asian Championships.

All national teams will be accommodated at the modern, four-star “Grand Aiser” Hotel in Almaty. Athletes registration will also be run there. In Asia we can see the same trend like in Europe: the top champions from the previous continental championships prepare for the Worlds or other IFBB top events like Arnold Amateur or International Cups while new names, let’s say raising stars, are coming to the next continental festival. On the stage in Almaty we will be able to see great stars like multi world champion Kamal Abdul Salam of Qatar and other world-class stars: Raed Fouad, Bader Sultan and Arafat Yaqoob (Bahrain), Mehdi Ayari and Abbas Peisepar (Iran), Seung-Hoon Lee, Jae-Koon Yoon and Seung-Chul Lee (Korea), Amit Chaudhary (India) and bodyfitness ladies: Shizuka Nakamura and Yumi Yamashita (Japan). But also very exciting will be to see the challengers, who in bodybuilding are often successful. Last weekend Asian bodybuilding celebrated its great success: 2012 Amateur Mr. Olympia sensational winner Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elsbiay of Kuwait won his first pro show: New York Pro and qualified to the 2013 Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas. Maybe in Almaty the next “Big Ramy” will be born?

The schedule of main activities is as follows:

Al The top stars coming to Almaty this year:

Men’s 60 kg class: Twice Asian Championships runner-up Hiroshi Tsuda (Japan) will meet 2012 Asian champion Seung-Hoon Lee (Korea). A small vendetta match can be expected as Seung-Hoon won over Tsuda in 2012.

Men’s 70 kg class: 2012 Asian champion Jae-Koon Yoon of Korea comes to regain the title. He will meet 2009 Asian champion Arafat Yaqoob of Bahrain.

Men’s 80 kg class: World top six Bader Sultan of Bahrain will be a strong candidate to win.

Men’s 85 kg class: World Games top five Amit Chaudhary (India) will seek his chance for victory.

In Fitness, Bethany Cisternino won the second contest of her pro career. Cisternino’s first win came at the 2010 Europa Super Show. Since then she has been a consistent top-five finisher. Cisternino, who was coming off a career-best third at the Fitness International, placed in the top five of four contests in 2012.

It doesn’t get any closer than it did in the battle for second between Ryall Graber-Vasani and Regiane DaSilva. Each finished with 36 total points on the final scoresheets, with Vasani winning the tiebreaker to earn the runner-up spot. DaSilva, the 2011 FIBO Fitness champ, placed third. Whitney Jones (4th) and Kizzy Vaines (5th) rounded out the top five.

FIBO Power pro show, including men’s open BB and women’s fitness PLUS the expo coming up this weekend …

    The complete competitor lists;

    competitorlist_menBB.gifcompetitorlist_fit.gif

    NPCnewsonline.com previews the show;

    FIBO POWER: COLOGNE, GERMANY

All eyes have been on Cedric McMillan since he announced he’d be throwing his hat in the FIBO ring two weeks ago, but it’s 43-year-old Johnnie Jackson who enters as the contest’s defending champion – and on the better roll. Jackson placed fourth to McMillan’s sixth at the Arnold Classic in March in the second meeting between the two. In their first meeting, McMillan edged past Jackson when the two finished 1-2 at last year’s New York Pro.

    1874971.jpg

    187106.jpg

Ed Nunn also makes the trip overseas to compete in his seventh contest in the past nine months. Nunn is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Arnold and a fourth-place finish at the Australia Grand Prix.

Michael Kefalianos and Ronny Rockel were both way off at the Arnold Classic, and each paid the price as the two grabbed the last two spots in lineup when placing 12th and 13th, respectively. Each typically fares well on European soil, so if they have managed to improve since early March, each could be a threat for the top five or higher.

    185901-133x200.jpg

In Fitness, four of the top eight from March’s Fitness International will take the stage. Bethany Cisternino, coming off her third-place finish at the Arnold Sports Festival, leads the way. She’ll have to deal with hometown favorite Regiane DaSilva (5th, Fitness International), who always catches the eyes of the European judges. Ryall Graber-Vasani (6th Fitness International), Kizzy Vaines (7th) and Nicole Duncan (8th) should also be in the top-three-mix.

This year’s Fitness International competition is definitely one for the history books. For the past three years, Adela Garcia has been in the top spot of the Fitness International competition. But this year, she won’t be back to defend her title. Last year’s runner-up, Camala Rodriquez, has made the switch to Figure, and top-contender Myriam Capes was forced to withdraw due to injury. All these changes mean the field is wide open for a new crop of winners. Let the excitement begin!

    Bethany Cisternino

At last year’s Fitness International, Bethany had one of her best shows. She finished in the top spots in both the physique and fitness rounds and earned fourth place. She was also runner-up at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Cup. Bethany will definitely be in one of the top spots in the physique round, and if she brings a fast-paced, clean routine to the night show, she’ll be a threat for first place.

    arnold-top-fitness-bethany.jpg

    Regiane Da Silva

Regiane has one of the most ambitious routines of the group. If you’re watching her, don’t blink because you may miss her incredible flips and twists. Her biggest challenge is harnessing all that energy into a cohesive presentation. Her routines usually score high, but her physique keeps her at the bottom of the pack. If she can bring a more refined physique this year, she could be in the top six.

    Nicole Duncan

Nicole Duncan has the potential to be great. We’ve seen her perform incredible routines—her background as a professional cheerleader definitely shines. However, she often misses the mark with her conditioning and ends up scoring lower than she should. To be in the mix, she needs to bring a conditioned physique and a high-flying, ham-it-up routine. I hope we see Nicole bring her best because she has the potential to win.

    Ryall Graber-Vasani

Ryall earned third place at the 2012 Master’s Olympia. It was a huge ego boost after her 10th-place showing at last year’s Arnold. She has one of the best physiques in the field and should fare well in the physique round. The question is: will the judges like her routine? I enjoyed her Wonder Woman routine, but the judges were less than impressed. I see her being a threat for the top spots if she brings a routine that engages the audience and pleases the judges.

    Oksana Grishina

Oksana is without question the woman with a target on her back. She won the 2012 Arnold and the Fort Lauderdale Cup. She was runner-up to Adela at the 2012 Olympia, and is now in the driver’s seat. In the past, Oksana’s routines were criticized for being too slow. She changed them to appease the judges and it paid off. The X-factor for Oksana is her posing. She can come in over-conditioned. She refined her physique and posing over the last two years, but has bordered “too hard” in the past.

    arnold-top-fitness-oksana.jpg

    Fiona Harris

Fiona competed on this stage as an amateur just one year ago. After she earned her pro card, she took the IFBB by storm. She finished third in her pro debut at the Pittsburgh Pro and matched that at the 2012 Toronto Pro. She grabbed fifth place at the Master’s Olympia and is in a position to be in the top tier. To do it, she needs a controlled, energetic routine. She has the physique and the strength skills to do well; it’s just a matter of refining them.

    Amanda Hatfield

In this group, Amanda is the closest to being a rookie. She turned pro at the 2012 NPC JR Nationals and has competed in just two pro shows thus far. She has a pair of seventh-place finishes. Any improvement in placing will be a victory. Her package just needs some fine tuning. A slightly more streamlined physique will help her move up in the ranks.

    Tanji Johnson

Tanji is one of the veterans to the stage. She’s often a crowd favorite. If she brings the physique and routine we know she’s capable of, she could take the show. Tanji is consistently in the top five. You’d have to go back to the 2009 Arnold to find her any lower. We never know which Tanji will show up, but if it’s the one with a tight physique and energetic routine, she could be shaking Arnold’s hand at the end of the night.

    arnold-top-fitness-tanji.jpg

    Kizzy Vaines

Kizzy is a bit of an anomaly. She’s hit or miss with her tan, and we never know what color her hair will be. Sometimes, her physique flows well and other times it doesn’t. She is, without question, one of the most flexible women in the IFBB Pro League and she demonstrates it in her routine. Some of her moves are like something out of a Cirque du Soleil show. One thing’s for sure, you’ll be gasping by the end of her routine.

    Trish Warren

Trish Warren is coming back to the stage! After having a baby, she’s ready to show everyone she hasn’t skipped a beat. Trish refined her physique and improved her routines in 2011 which positioned her to be a top contender in the Fitness division. She was third in 2010 Olympia and matched that place at the 2011 Fitness International Contest. Regardless of where she finishes, Trish is a huge inspiration to mothers everywhere.

    BB.com // Isaac Hinds previews women’s Figure International – http://www.bodybuild…2&CJPID=2136017

Three-time Figure International Champion Nicole Wilkins has decided to sit out this year’s competition at the Arnold Classic. That means the door is open for one of the 18 competitors lined up to take her place. The obvious favorite, at least on paper, is Erin Stern; but Candice Keene is nipping at her heels. There’s also a crew of newcomers determined to make their presence known. Columbus may never be the same!

    2013 Figure International Competitors

    Cheryl Brown

Cheryl had a string of wins in 2011, but has struggled to find her groove in 2012. She placed eighth at the Arnold last year and finished seventh at the Wings of Strength show in July. Cheryl’s physique doesn’t flow as well as some of the other competitors in this field.

In the past, her challenge is being balanced without having overpowering shoulders. Stage presence is also a huge factor with Cheryl—she often struggles to hide what’s happening off the stage. She can get back in the mix, but will need to be at her all-time best and bring a new level of confidence to the stage.

    Ava Cowan

Ava is a bit of an X-factor in this lineup. She’s been in the top spots before, but dropped to ninth at the Olympia in 2012. Many times Ava is her own worst enemy. The little details—which can make or break a competitor—have held her back from finishing in a higher place.

    figure-ava.jpg

If she comes in too hard, she’ll be on the outside looking in. If she brings a balanced physique and fixes those little details, she could be in the mix. Ava is a tough one to place: she’ll either be in the top three or on the outside of the top six.

    Heather Dees

Heather has been quietly flying under the radar since her 4th place finish at the 2012 Sheru Classic. She earned fifth at the Olympia and 2nd at the New York Pro in 2012. She refined her physique over the last few months with the help of trainer Kim Oddo. If she brings a physique similar to what she had at the end of 2012, she should be in the top callout.

    Olga Gallardo

Olga was the 2012 Arnold Amateur winner, which solidified her spot in this field. She placed sixth in her pro debut at the California Pro, but since then has struggled to crack the top 10. She has a big back and powerful delts, but her legs are a little lean. If she wants to place well in this lineup, she’ll have her work cut out for her.

    Mallory Haldeman

Mallory took the pro scene by storm and has all the tools to be a top contender. She turned pro at the 2012 Jr. Nationals contest and wasted no time getting her feet wet in the pro ranks. She was second in her pro debut at the Tampa Pro and matched that with a runner-up finish at the Tournament of Champions.

    figure-mallory.jpg

She went on to finish in 5th place at her first Olympia. Her short career has been impressive so far. To earn a top spot, Mallory needs to nail her posing and bring up her back. If she does it, she’ll be in the top three.

    Aleisha Hart

Aleisha refined her physique over the last few months. Every time she competes, she brings a better look to the stage. She placed as high as third, and is coming off a 16th place finish at the Olympia. In this field of heavy hitters, a top-10 finish would be a victory.

    Candice John

Candice exemplifies the adage “patience pays off.” The improvements she’s made to her posing and overall presentation has helped her move up the ranks. She took top honors at the 2012 Pittsburgh Pro and was consistently in the top six throughout the year. The 2012 Olympia was the only exception. She has the potential to crack the top six, but it won’t be easy.

    Candice Keene

You have to go back to the 2011 Figure International to find a show where she wasn’t in the top five. For the last year, she’s been playing third fiddle to Nicole Wilkins and Erin Stern. With Nicole Wilkins sitting out, she’ll look to move up and even overtake Erin Stern. She has the potential to do it, as long as she isn’t too hard with her conditioning.

    figure-candice.jpg

    Candice Lewis

Candice had an incredible 2012 season. She started the year off with a seventh-place finish at the Pittsburgh Pro and proceeded to win five of her next six shows. Candice has incredible shape and a super tiny waist. However, she struggles to keep her runner’s legs down in size. She’ll have to keep them in check to earn a top spot. The bigger worry though, is whether or not her body can withstand an entire year of competing. If she brings the same conditioning we saw throughout 2012, she’ll be in the top five. If she’s even a little bit off she’ll be closer to the 7-9 range.

    Kamla Macko

Kamla has incredible structure and the ability to be a top contender. She’s held her own in each of her pro shows since achieving pro status at the 2012 USAs. Kamla just needs to improve her posing. There are times where her arms are too far out to the side. She also needs to be conscious of being confident without appearing arrogant or cocky on stage. If she poses perfectly and brings the right amount of confidence, she could be in the top five.

    Camala Rodriguez

Camala could shake up the top six. Last year, she was the runner-up of the Fitness International competition. This year, she’s competing in Figure. She always held her own in the physique rounds when she competed in fitness, so it will be interesting to see how she matches up against the best. She finished third at the Fort Lauderdale Cup, her only Pro Figure show to date.

    Giada Simari

Giada is relatively unknown in the USA figure ranks. She earned fourth place at the Nordic pro but struggled at the Arnold Europe. Because she’s highly muscled, she tends to look more like a Physique competitor than a Figure competitor. If she wants to place well, she’ll need to lean down.

    Nicole Sims

Nicole won the 2012 NPC Nationals. The Figure International will be her pro debut—talk about jumping into the deep end! She has a nice physique and the potential to do well in the division. Her challenge will be finding the right conditioning for the pro level.

    Erin Stern

She’s won five consecutive events. Without Nicole Wilkins in the picture, that top spot is hers for the taking. Although she has yet to win the Arnold, she has two Olympia titles and numerous other top-two placings.

    figure-erin.jpg

This year, all eyes will be on her. Erin‘s only challenge is herself. She sometimes over-thinks and tries to tinker with what works. Last year, she came in a bit too thin which worked against her tall, athletic frame. If she brings the look she did to the Olympia, she’ll be your winner. If she’s off the mark, she could be put to the test by Candice Keene.

    Gennifer Strobo

We never know what we’ll see with Gen Strobo. She took fifth at the Sheru Classic, but 16th at the 2012 Olympia. The last time she took the top spot was at the 2011 Kentucky Muscle Pro.

She was ninth at the Figure International last year, and I imagine she’ll be in a similar spot again this year. Gen has the tendency to come in looking stringy and too lean. If she can look more full and balanced, she’ll improve.

    Alea Suarez

Alea is an inspiration to moms everywhere. She, like many other women in this lineup, holds down a job and pulls triple duty with motherly duties.

Alea is one of the few competitors who successfully made the switch from bikini to figure. She has to watch being overly vascular. She needs make sure she doesn’t look too hard, but also not too flat. If she can bring confidence to the stage and stay relaxed, especially in her back poses, she’ll be in the mix.

    Ann Titone

Ann Titone has done wonders with her physique. She’s brought out her shoulders and legs which have given her wonderful symmetry and balance. She earned 12th place at the Olympia and won the 2012 Kentucky Muscle Pro. Ann is the dark horse in this line-up; if some of the usual suspects are sleeping, Ann will place ahead of them.

    Natalie Waples

Natalie Waples is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Fort Lauderdale Cup. She was 16th at the Olympia, and 11th at the 2012 Tournament of Champions. If Natalie’s physique is full, she’ll have a better chance at being in the mix. If she comes in flat, she’ll look small and disappear among the other women in this lineup.

    Juhend siin:

    http://sport.emu.ee/sport/emumv/fitness-five/juhend/

Raskused olid kergemad kui päris fitness five-l. Biitseps kõvera kangiga selg vastu posti toetatud, jalad natuke eemal, selg ei tohi lahti tulla, kangiga peab lõua ära puudutama.

Punktiarvestus igal alal mitu kordust jõuad teha 75 sek jooksul niipalju punkte saad:)
