Juan Morel opts out of Olympia – http://www.flexonline.com/ifbb/juan-morel-opts-out-olympia

Though qualified, Team Morel decided it best to wait one more year to add those fine details required to place at the Olympia

Juan Morel’s had a great run this year as a rookie pro. Morel took the 2011 North American Championships Men’s Super Heavyweight Class and Overall.

Immediately the next year, Morel competed in and placed 4th at the 2012 New York Pro Men’s Open. Team Morel took a step back, reassessed and came back to take the 2012 Hartford Europa 1st place spot.

It’s a difficult decision, I know, but sometimes it’s best to let off the gas, fine tune and come back stronger. Morel’s philosophy is if you’re going to the Big Show, you go to win – not to show.

The thing we already kinda knew is now official…

Cutler is Out in 2012, But Far From Done

From 4x Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler:

I will not be competing this year in the Mr. Olympia. I did try to get back on track with my training and my eating, but there was simply too much going on with my business ventures. The only way I would compete is if I can put 100 percent into it, and the timing wasn’t right for this year. And honestly, it wasn’t until mid-July that I even made the decision to return in 2013 and try to get my title back from Phil, just like I got it back from Dexter in 2009. But this year, for the first time in 10 years, I want to just sit back and watch the show— who moves up, who moves down— and start training full-throttle for the 2013 Mr. Olympia not too long after. Next month in MD, I will give the full story behind my decision to sit this one out, and how and why I know I can get my title back next year.

In 2009 Jose Raymond took sixth place at the Mr. Olympia 202 Showdown. A year late he was fourth. Last year he climbed into third place behind winner Kevin English and runner up James “Flex” Lewis. This year the “Boston Mass” is on the hunt to climb higher. Will he take the 2012 212 Showdown crown?

And also Victor is sitting out of the ’12 Olympia

    http://www.musculardevelopment.com/contests/2012-mr-olympia/4690-victors-out-of-the-olympia.html

I have decided not to compete in the Mr. Olympia contest this year. A lot of people wanted me to do the show to make a statement that despite all the hardships I went through, I still persevered and did the show. Just showing up would have been a victory was how it seems a lot of people felt. I understand that. But as the contest got closer and I was looking at how my physique was coming along, I had to be very realistic and calculating. I was looking at who I was going up against in the top six. There was going to be Phil, Kai, Branch, Wolf, Evan and a couple others who were going to be at their best. At my best, I am confident going up against any one of them. But the reality was, I didn’t have enough time to be at my best.

If the contest had been three months later or I had gotten out three months sooner, things would have been very different and I would have definitely competed. The reality was, you can’t cram 16 weeks worth of contest prep into seven or eight weeks, at least not when you’re up against the very best physiques in the world and you want to be good enough to beat them! I could have competed, but it would have been half-assed and a lot of people would have immediately seen I was nowhere near my best. I couldn’t go up onstage like that. I have my own pride, plus I would have been letting down my fans, sponsors and everyone else that believes in me. So the next time you see me onstage, you will see the best version of me yet.
