The second day of the 2013 IFBB World Juniors and Masters Championships was devoted to master men bodybuilding, where we could see many top international stars who just turned 40 but still are successful among seniors also. The best example is Jose Carlos Santos of Brazil, who recently won 70 kg category at the Arnold Europe and in Ulaanbaatar was the king of the 70 kg class in the masters 40-49 division. However, Santos performed poor posing routine and lost this round to Tomoya Nakadomari (Japan) who finally won the silver medal.

The other hero from Arnold Europe, Jens Schneider (Germany) had no problem with winning the next gold medal in the 80 kg category. He received perfect scores from the judges. Silver medal winner Igor Losev (Russia) couldn’t do any damage to him as he was too smooth this time.

The next Brazilian star, Edson Serafim, took the 1st place in the 90 kg class, winning all three rounds and showing bigger muscles than his opponents, but this time his muscles were also hard and dried. Behind him we can see more perfectly prepared athletes: Davoud Rahimi (Iran) with sharp definition, David Perez (Spain) who showed muscular body lines but could have a bit sharper definition and Marek Vomacka (Czech Republic) who won this category in Madrid but now Serafim and Perez placed ahead of him.

Similar situation in the heavyweight class: few athletes aspiring to the gold medal. Among them Hamdullah Aykutlug (Turkey) who won this category in 2010 and 2012, Mahdi Ayari (Iran) who came in a glory of this year’s Asian champion, 2012 German Championships overall winner Horst Wetterau and Russian over 120 kg giant Sergey Kozin. The battle was close and brought the spectacular victory to Ayari, with Wetterau and Aykutlug behind him. But during the victory ceremony Aykutlug displayed his dissatisfaction in bad, non-acceptable style and was disqualified, so Kozin moved up to the 3rd position. Aykutlug was in perfect shape but couldn’t understand that his top rivals showed also a good shape but was much heavier and more muscular than he was.

In the 50-59 age division, up to 80 kg, the next success of well-known Spanish bodybuilder Armando Villa, who won at the Arnold Europe in Madrid also. In the 2nd place a new face from Iran, Mahmoud Zare, and then 2013 European Championships bronze medal winner Albert Szczygielski of Poland.

The heavyweight, over 80 kg, had its new leader Norton Murayama (Brazil) who was a big star in the other federations but now moved to the IFBB and confirmed his top muscles quality, leaving behind former European champion Inigo Ortiz de Mendivil (Spain) and former world champion Jose Camacho Rebolo (Portugal). Rebolo, as often, with big muscles mass but lacking top definition and hardness.

Master men classic bodybuilding first gold medal (40-49 years old division) went to Brian Emerson of Australia and was he only medal at these Championships for this continent. Silver medal to Bjorn Albinsson of Sweden.

In the older class, over 50 years old, tough battle between Peter Rudling (Sweden) and Mieczyslaw Nowacki (Poland), with the final victory of Rudling.

The overall category, with so many top stars in the line-up, was a very spectacular show. Finally, the overall title went to Mahdi Ayari of Iran, who presented the best combination of muscle mass and quality.
