Estonian bodybuilding & fitness year 2014 – the highlights!

April starts in Europe with FIBO – the multisport festival and expo. Estonia is represented well as always!

Meanwhile in Estonia the national contest year gets started with the 6th edition of Louna-Eesti karikavoistlused. At the end of the day Ellen Parik (bikini), Daniel Schvalbe (men’s physique), Jürgen Ots (juniors), Janar Rückenberg (men’s open) and Darola Kruusik (body fitness) get to celebrate the over all victories. Kristjan-Johannes Konsap shows some heavenly posing skills and thanks for the best poser award.

The show must go on and so does the hectic month continue already during the next week as on 12th april the Estonian bodybuilding and fitness fans gather to witness the 6th version of Reval Cup. No surprises. Darola Kruusik dominates the body fitness class, Kristina Aleksejeva is the best bikini fitness athlete of the day, Nikita Dvorkin earns the biggest trophy in men’s physique class and Rainer Palm takes the title at the junior over all battle. Crowd favorite Kristjan-Johannes Konsap wins it all and get handed with over all crown in men’s open class.

In the same weekend the elite of Estonian women compete in Kiev, Ukraine at the World Ladies Cup and make undoubtedly the country proud: Reet Reimets invades the last podium spot in her class and places 3rd, Egle Eller-Nabi takes 4th place and Kristina Nuut 5th. Aleksandra Laer ends up on 7th place and our body fitness representant Anastasija Žerdetskaja 4th.

April 2014 gets sealed with the best possible way – with the 30th EKV which tempts over 50 competitors on 26th of april at Salme house of culture to compete for honor and gold. The celebrated champions of the day are…

In May also…

…the biggest IFBB amateur event sees its daylight. Estonia sends 18 athletes the represent the country at the IFBB European Championships held in Santa Susanna, Spain at 10th-18th May. Already the first contest day – friday – proves that that there is no tourists in the huge team:Rain Kuusnõmm takes silver medal in his CBB class, Imre Vähi makes a great comeback to the international stages by taking 6th place in the competitive up to 180cm class and another Kuusnõmm brother Raigo goes to the finals as well and places 5th. Janar Rückenberg makes a great showing too and ends on 9th spot. Siim Kelner represents Estonian junior CBB, does it successfully and places 5th. Ott Kiivikas gives one more reason to celebrate on Friday as he fights to the 2nd spot in BB up to 90kg class, only the over all winner ahead of him!

Saturday and Sunday are devoted to the rest of junior classes and women’s open categories. The results are no weak for the Estonian team on these days either. The brightest star is without a doubt Endla Vaher who overshadows the rest of the group in junior fitness, wins not only her own class but also the over all title! Endla competes also among the open class competitors and takes 4th place in the taller class. Johanna Lond places 4th in the same junior class, Janika Aavamägi takes 12th spot in junior bikini fitness and Nikita Dvorkin is worth of 5th place in men’s junior fitness class. Darola Kruusik makes a phenomenal showing in body fitness up to 163cm class, surprises many and takes an honorable 5th placement. Anastasia Žerdetskaija places on 17th in the tallest BF class. In bikini categories Reet Reimets catches the judges’ eye and gets awarded with the bronze medal. The placements of the other bikini team members are: Egle Eller-Nabi (5th), Tatjana Kurilova (out of TOP 15), Kristina Nuut(9th), Aleksandra Laer (12th). Estonian WPD ambassador Esta Pilt competes both in WPD and masters BF class – result 8th in masters BF and 11th in short WPD class with 24 competitors.

In 13th July Mr Pawel Filleborn, the chairman of IFBB judges committee visits Tallin, Estonia. Totally 18 athletes, judges and coaches attend his seminar about the sports and judging criteria.

On the next day – 14th of June – Estonian bodybuilding and fitness enthusiasts gather at the traditional FitCamp with lots of training, food and joy.

At 19th of September Kristina Nuut, Oleg Anissimov, Ott Kiivikas, Ellen Parik and Jekaterina Kern pack their posing suits and fly to Norway in order to compete at the Norway Open sports festival. Unfortunately Jekaterina and Ellen – despite their good appearances – are left outside of the finals in packed bikini fitness classes. Still the audience get the witness some Estonian physique excellence at Fredrikstad during the final session. Ott places 2nd in his class after ultimate conditioned Niro de la Rua. The evening is even more successful for Kristina and Oleg as they both take great victories in their classes.

During the same weekend Estonian team with 14 members attends the Riiga Pearl Cup. As expected, Egle Eller-Nabi gives no mercy but leaves the arena with the biggest trophy. Same thing does Kristina Aleksejeva who takes the top honors in the shortest bikini class. The placements of other Estonians are Reele Viirimaa 3rd in BF class, Regina Krukovskaja 3rd, Anastasia Dvorkina 5th, Tatjana Kurilova 6th, Merily Allak 9th (all in bikini fitness up to 166cm), Ene Tomingas 4th, Kati Kõrm 5th, Heddi Priivits 6th, Ada Lestsenski 10th, Signe Tilk 11th (all of them in bikini up to 169cm), Cärolin Paas 5th and Liis Vahter 8th (both in bikini over 169cm class).
