Arnold Classic Europe is scheduled for the last weekend in September. Kristina Nuut, Egle Eller-Nabi, Reet Reimets and Ene Tomingas honor the Spain-located event with their participation. In competitive bikini classes Reet places 10th and Ene takes 13th place. Both Kristina and Egle make a breathe taking showings at the prejudging round and are seen in the finals round as well. Same trend continues in the finals, Egle takes the runner up spot in her class and Kristina … she makes history and takes a BIG win under her belt.

2014 IFBB WORLD CLASSIC BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS – PREVIEW

    by Andrew Michalak

This year’s IFBB last international event before Christmas will be held the upcoming weekend in La Nucia, Spain. It includes the 2014 World Classic Bodybuilding Championships as well as the Bikini Fitness and Men’s Physique World Cup.

La Nucia (from the Arabic word Naziha – “delicious”) is famous from its very modern sport complex. It includes a magnificent “Auditorium of the Mediterranean” constructed just a few years ago. The city was awarded with the title of the “2012 European City for Sport” by the European Parliament.

Competitors, officials and guests will be accommodated in the hotels located in the Poniente Beach in Benidorm, at the Avenida Armada Española, so beautiful views and relax guaranteed and it is a good idea to stay there few days more “recharging your batteries” for the next year. Detailed information in the Inspection Report.

    World Classic Bodybuilding Championships
For me, the biggest sensation are big teams from China (altogether 19 athletes), Congo and Gambia. According to the current IFBB Rules, 5 body height categories will be run: China re-entered the IFBB international events this year, hosting the Ben Weider Diamond Cup and sending a powerful team to the Asian Beach Games. This will be next test of their potentials, show in the battle against top world athletes. Congo and Gambia will start their IFBB international activity if they come (sometimes they failed). It would be intriguing to see athletes from these countries.

    Up to 168 cm:

Very tough battle could be expected as three top stars entered this class: 2012 world champion Sungwon Kang (Korea), 2013 world champion Seyed Mirnoorollahi (Iran) and 2013 Worlds runner-up Kikwan Seol (Korea). All three recently met at the Asian Beach Games, with Mirnoorollahi taking the 2nd place, ahead of Seol and Kang. Will any other competitors be able to challenge them? If any, it could be 2013 Worlds finalist Robert Horvat (Croatia) or the 2011 top ten player Meelis Susi (Estonia). Other athletes from Brazil, Japan and Spain are rather new faces.

    Up to 171 cm:

Around full semifinal (some athletes didn’t provide their categories) and once again three former world champions: Javad Soltani (2012 – Iran), Yeonseok Yang (2010 – Korea) and Luigi Di Carlo (2007 – Italy). Soltani is in his best days winning also the latest Asian Beach Games, while Yang took the 3rd position there. But we know that at bodybuilding contest the body condition of the final day is a decisive factor, so who knows? Di Carlo was less successful in the recent years but there will be more serious challengers: 2013 Worlds finalists: Denis Bashkatov (Russia) and Peep Reinart (Estonia), 2009 Worlds bronze medal winner Fernando Gornals (Spain), 2014 South American champion Yens Bonilla (Ecuador), 2014 European champion Jesus Rodal (Spain) and 2014 Weider Cup winner Ran Maorong (China). Many serious candidates for medals!

    Up to 175 cm:

Full semifinal, three medals and four famous stars fighting for them: 2012 world champion Jehyung Ryu (Korea), 2014 European champion and Arnold Europe 2nd place winner Tomas Bendoraitis (Lithuania), 2013 Arnold Europe 3rd place winner and 2014 Eastern European Championships runner-up Artem Pyari (Russia) plus one new, very gifted athlete: 2014 Weider Cup winner Kang Chen (China). He won the latest Asian Beach Games outpointed the world champion Jehyung Ryu!
Plus the current South American Championships runner-up Angelo Ronquillo (Ecuador) and two top world masters champions: 2014 world champion (over 50) Petr Boar (Czech Republic) and 2014 Worlds runner-up (40-49) Bogdan Nowakowski (Poland). This will be an extremely excited battle!

    Up to 180 cm:

Around 20 competitors but only one mega star: 2013 European Championshos overall winner and 2014 Arnold USA overall winner Serhii Gorenkov (Ukraine). Will she add to his collection the next overall title? Who will try to stop him? 2013 Arnold Europe winner Andrey Shmidt (Russia) and 2013 Worlds runner-up Ali Emre (then Turkey, now Azerbaijan) are very demanding opponents. Plus semifinalist of various international events from the past two years: Manuel Plachner (Austria), Patricio Martin and Oscar Gonzalez (both of Spain), Cristian Harten and Matías Monteagudo (both of Argentina). Or, maybe, someone from among new faces: Vinicius Ramos (Brazil), Mojtaba Arzeshmand (Iran), Deimantas Sladkevicius (Lithuania), Pawel Drozdowski (Poland)? Brazil entered many new competitors but they have already proved that their new athletes are of the top quality (like at the recent World Fitness Championships in Montreal).

    Over 180 cm:

Around 20 athletes and a couple of great stars. Among them three former world champions: Andriy Kukharchuk (2013 – Ukraine), Lubos Malinak (2012 – Slovakia) and Mateusz Kolkowski (2011 – Poland). Kukharchuk is so phenomenal bodybuilder who can be successful in both: extreme and classic bodybuilding. A month ago he won silver medal at the 2014 World (Extreme) Bodybuilding Championships in Brasilia in 95 kg category. Dropping 8 kg of muscles he will be able to compete in La Nucia. Then the 2014 Arnold Europe overall winner Sergei Khalepo (Russia) and his team-mate: 2013 and 2014 Arnold Europe 3rd place winner Yuri Leinvald. Moreover, 2013 Worlds bronze medal winner Tomasz Kornalewski (Poland), 2011 and 2012 Arnold Europe top three Wastecley Costa Lima (Spain), who will come back this year. Plus 2011 Worlds finalist Olaf Michaelis (Germany) and 20-14 European Championships runner-up Dražen Vrbančić (Croatia). Category packed with the stars, no clear predictions possible!

    Bikini World Cup

Up to 160 cm: three well-known athletes from Spain: 2014 Worlds bronze medal winner Maria Paulete Aranguren, 2014 Arnold Europe 3rd place winner Carla Fernandez and finalist of many top international contests: Inmaculada Gual.

Up to 163 cm: the latest Weider Cup runner-up Xiang Zaihua (China) plus rising stars from Portugal: Elsa Pena and Spain: Jenifer Rocio.

Up to 166 cm: 2014 European Championships runner-up and 2014 Amateur Bikini Olympia runner-up Karina Skowronska (United Kingdom) against top Weider Cup athletes from China: Chen Siyu (the winner), Mou Cong (bodyfitness winner), Chen Qiuling and Zhong Xinjuan.

Up to 169 cm: 2014 Arnold Europe 3rd place winner Elvira Cara (Moldova) against a group of top Chinese competitors: Su Rui (2nd place at the Weider Cup), Fan Shuhui (2nd place in bodyfitness at the Weider Cup) and Zhao Shiliu. Plus rising styars from Congo and Spain.

Up to 172 cm: one mega star: current world champion as well as European Championships and Amateur Olympia overall winner Alla Semenova (Ukraine). If in shape, nobody could stop her. The other well-known athletes: Kristine Brokane (Latvia) and Sara Diaz Rodriguez (Spain).

Over 172 cm: interesting combat of the 2014 Grand Prix Pepa overall winner Kristina Narbutaityte (Lithuania) and the 2014 world junior overall winner Yevheniia Suprun (Ukraine). Plus 2014 Arnold Europe top ten Markéta Tůmová (Czech Republic) and more competitors from Spain.

    Men’s Physique World Cup

Up to 172 cm: two finalists of the latest European Championships: Alexis Gonzalez and Miguel Angulo.

Up to 175 cm: probably, the greatest star of this World Cup: 2014 World Championships and 2014 European Championships runner-up Henrique De Carvalho (France). Good opportunity to be at the top, at least.

Up to 178 cm: many finalists and semifinalists of different international events, like Ilya Tsarev (Russia) – 2014 Eastern European Championships, David Fillol (Spain) – 2014 Arnold Europe or Said Alghifary (Sweden) – 2013 Weider Cup.

Up to 181 cm: new faces from Congo, Portugal and Ukraine.

Over 181 cm: two top stars: 2014 Arnold Europe winner Alberto Hiciano (Spain) and 2014 European Championships bronze medal winner Anthony Amar (France). Plus 2014 Partner’s Cup winner Miroslav Kadlec (Czech Republic).

IFBB WORLD FITNESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2014 – WHO WILL BE THERE Pt. 2

    Bodyfitness and Bikini Fitness
    by Andrew Michalak

Very strong teams from Ukraine, Slovakia, Estonia and three Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden and Finland. Beside the host country, Canada, the biggest team from Brazil. Also many competitors from Australia and South Africa. Most of them are new names, successful at the national level till now. Canadian competitors had their IFBB International Events Qualifier. Some of them participated also in the 2014 North American Championships in Pittsburgh, USA.

    BIKINI FITNESS

Bikini Fitness up to 160 cm category
Almost full semifinal, with a couple of well-known names. Only one finalist from the last year’s Worlds in Kiev: Lizelle Horn (South Africa). Will she do better than 6th place this time? Maria del Pilar (Spain) lost only to phenomenal Romina Basualdo at the recent Arnold Europe in Madrid. She may be considered an the main pretender to the top trophy. (Basualdo is not coming to Montreal). Then, the runner-up of the latest Nicole Wilkins Cup in Lahti, Jaana Malytcheva (Finland). And 2013 Arnold Europe winner and 2014 Arnold USA 3rd place winner Virag Kiss (Hungary). Moreover, two girls from Brazil and two from Australia. Who knows? Usually, Australian girls did very well at the world level. And Karen Pham from Canada who was 4th at their Qualifier.

Bikini Fitness up to 163 cm category
Nobody from the finals in Kiev but the 7th place winner Anita Bekus (United Kingdom) who moved to the 4th place at the latest Arnold Europe. Also the runner-up at this event Rodika Bodrug (Sweden). Then the current European champion Stanislava Pritrska (Slovakia) and South American Championships runner-up Natalia Ortega (Ecuador). Plus 2014 Arnold Classic South America winner Naiara Schubert (Brazil) and two very good competitors from Norway: 2014 Amateur Olympia finalist Sandra Jokic and Jeanette Elstad. Also the European Championships finalist Michaela Brutenic (Slovakia).

Bikini Fitness up to 166 cm category
New category compared to the last year’s Worlds in Kiev (there was 168 cm class). Two girls from the top three at the latest Arnold Europe: the winner Frida Sjöström (Sweden) and the 3rd place winner Ruth Dales (United Kingdom). Plus 2013 Arnold Europe winner Timea Varga (Hungary) and 2014 European Championships bronze medal winner Madelen Myhr (Sweden). And top ten players from different international contests: Sarah Allen and Alice Round (both of Australia), Veronica Dalsnes (Norway) and Margarita Veverica (Latvia). From Canada Marie Robertson, 2nd at the latest Canadian Nationals.

Bikini Fitness up to 169 cm category
Also a new category, so new configuration of participants. But one mega star, who didn’t lost any contest since 2014 Arnold USA, winning the overall titles at the recent Arnold Classic Europe plus gold medals at the World Ladies Cup, European Championships and Amateur Olympia Europe. Incredible series of victories. Will someone stop her? Sometimes she lost to Egle Eller-Nabi (Estonia) like at the 2013 Arnold USA. There also will be 2014 Amateur Olympia and European Championships runner-up Karina Skowronska (United Kingdom), so if anybody could challenge Viazmetinova, it would be Eller-Nabi and Skowronska. Eller-Nabi won the latest Nicole Wilkins Cup in Lahti, so is in a top body condition. Marina Diaz (France) placed ahead of Viazmetinova at the 2014 Arnold USA. Who knows? From Canada Carrie Hensman, 3rd at their Nationals.

Bikini Fitness up to 172 cm category
One great star: 2014 European Championships and Amateur Olympia overall winner Alla Semenova (Ukraine). If anybody could stop her, it will be 2014 Arnold Europe winner Kristina Nuut (Estonia) or 2014 European Championships runner-up Brigitta Bekefi (Hungary). Maybe the current South American champion Nicolle Muller Ollandezos(Brazil). Other competitors often in the finals of the international contests: Kathrin Weishaupt (Germany) and Reet Reimets (Estonia). And Sarah Rennick from Canada, probably their best bikini athlete, 2nd place winner at the North American Championships.

Bikini Fitness over 172 cm category
The next meet of three top stars: 2013 Arnold Europe and 2014 European Championships winner Olga Putrova (Russia), 2014 European Championships and 2014 Amateur Olympia runner-up Paula Banot (Poland) and 2014 Arnold Europe winner Olivia Pohankova (Slovakia). These three stars change places between them almost at every meet. Impossible to point out the winner. Kathrin Hollmann (Germany) won a week ago in Lahti and placed 3rd at the 2013 and 2014 Arnold Europe. She is moving up. The same Bilyana Yotovska (Bulgaria) who entered the finals of the latest Arnold Classic Europe. From Canada Angeline Jeanson (3rd) and Nneka Ezurike (4th) at their Qualifier.

    BODYFITNESS

    Bodyfitness up to 158 cm
We can expect close duel of three top international stars: Angela Derzapf (Germany) Antonina Berebenia (Ukraine) and Veronica Gallego (Spain). Berebnia will come to defend the world title won last year in Kiev. Derzpaf slightly won over Berebenia at the 2014 World Ladies Cup in Kiev as well as won the 2013 Arnold USA and placed 2nd this year. At the 2014 European Championships she won over Gallego. But Gallego won the first Amateur Olympia Latin America and many masters categories at different contests. She is still improving! Plus the last year’s bronze medal winner Inna Trofymenkova (Ukraine). Any solution possible! There will also be the current South American champion Susana Alegre (Argentina) as well as two top quality Italian girls: Roberta Visintainer and Valentina Mazzola From Canada Valerie Melancon.

    Bodyfitness up to 163 cm
2013 world champions Gabriella Szabo will be back! In 2013 she had a great series of winnings: at the European Championships (overall), at Arnold Europe and at the Worlds. Nobody more from the finals of the last year’s Worlds but 2012 finalist and 2012 Arnold Europe runner-up Kristina Skjelberg (Sweden) who will try to place in the top three once again. Then the sensational winner form Lahti, Julie Oftedal (Norway), who won over Derzapf there! Plus two experienced master competitors: Cristina Romano (Italy) and Margita Zamolova (Czech Rep.) and 2009 South American champion and 2012 Worlds finalist Analia Galeano (Argentina).

    Bodyfitness up to 168 cm
The next mega star: 2013 world champion and European overall winner as well as 2013 Arnold Europe winner Adela Ondrejovicova (Slovakia). Surprisingly, she was scored in the 11th place at the latest Arnold Europe (overlooked?) but a week ago won in Lahti, earning the Pro Card. The next pretender to win is the 2014 World Ladies Cup winner and 2014 European Championships overall winner Olga Chumakova (Ukraine). The next stars: 2012 Worlds bronze medal winner Michaela Ruzickova (Czech Rep.) and 2014 Arnold Europe finalist Hanna Saario (Finland). From Canada Nadine Young, 7th at the 2014 North American Championships and 2011 Powershack Classic winner.

    Bodyfitness over 168 cm
The current European champion Kinga Szweda seems to be the top pretender; however she lost at the 2014 Arnold Europe. For sure, will try to rebuild her position. The next top contender: 2014 European Championships runner-up (in the 168 cm class) Federica Ghezzi (Italy). Plus three top Canadian athletes: Barbara Molyneaux, Erin Stuart and Marie Pier Hebert. Stuart was 2013 Canadian champion and 2014 runner-up.

ARNODL CLASSIC EUROPE 2014 AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP FULL RESULTS

    by Andrew Michalak

Sunday noon, a very special moment at the Arnold Classic Europe in Madrid: seven bodybuilding champions – winners of seven bodyweight categories enter the stage to fight for the “champion of the champions” title. Who will be the best bodybuilder of this year’s Arnold Classic Europe? Who will pass to the IFBB history? Who will follow three previous ACE overall winners: Feras Saied (2011), Alexander Kodzoev (2012) and Sandro Hofer (2013)?

All seven pretenders perform seven compulsory poses as a group. And again, in the changed order of competitors. Then a short posedown for the public because judges must be already ready with their notes. This time they are unanimous, putting the same bodybuilder in the first place. The new Arnold Classic Europe bodybuilding king is the super heavyweight champion Vitaly Fateev of Russia! He is the first Arnold Europe overall champion, who won this title with perfect scores of 5 points in total.

Fateev started his competitive bodybuilding in 2003, participating as a junior in the Krasnodar Province Championships, then in the South Russian Championships. In 2005 he moved into the seniors division. In 2007 moved to Moscow, winning the Moscow Championships and the Moscow Region Championships, both in overall. 2008 was the next milestone in his career: he won the Russian Nationals (super heavyweight) and in overall lost to Alexander Kodzoev only. The next four years were less successful to him. In 2012 he participated in his first international contest: Arnold Classic Europe, but didn’t enter the semifinals. Bigger progress came in 2013 when he focused on the Arnold Europe only. Much better muscle quality resulted in the 3rd place. This achievement built up his self-confidence and proved that his new training and nutrition methods were the best for his body. He repeated this system this year with even bigger success. Congratulations!

The next attraction of the Arnold Europe super finals was the fitness category. In the short class, up to 163 cm, there were a close battle of three athletes: current European champion Anna Dudushkina (Mekhnina) of Russia, the latest Amateur Olympia winner Nikolett Szabó (Hungary) and the European Championships bronze medal winner Pia Pajunen (Finland). Szabó won the routine round, Dudushkina won the physique assessment round but the winner of this category was… Pajunen, who placed 2nd in both rounds.

In the tall class, over 163 cm, the last year’s Arnold Europe 3rd place winner Giorgia Foroni (Italy) moved up to the top, leaving behind Marina Zvancuka of Latvia and Stephanie Hebert of France.

The women’s fitness overall title went to Pia Pajunen (Finland) and this success is a good sign for her before the upcoming World Fitness Championships in Montreal.

Nobody could challenge the current men’s fitness world champion Konstantin Nekrasov, who easily grasped the title. The only serious opponent to him, Oleg Anissimov of Estonia, was nominated to this contest but didn’t come.

ARNOLD CLASSIC EUROPE 2014 – STARS COMING TO MADRID (BIKINI)

    by Andrew Michalak

We begin to publish a series of sport analysis prior to the 2014 Arnold Classic Europe. Most of National Federations have already sent their Final Entry Forms, so we can look into each discipline and each category to see who will play the key role in the upcoming battle. Some countries will send their nominations a bit later, among them Spain, which, for sure, will enter a big and powerful team but their competitors will come directly to the registration on Thursday. Last year the Spanish Team had 152 competitors, so we can expect something like this or even more this year. Up till now (Sept. 16) the biggest team is the Italian Team, with 68 athletes. Russia in on the same level (66 athletes), then France (42 athletes), United Kingdom (39 athletes), Hungary (29 athletes) and Germany (21 athletes). What is new, much bigger teams from smaller countries like Czech Republic, Kuwait, Norway, Portugal or South Africa. Among new countries we can see Dominican Republic, Iraq, Moldova, Nigeria, Trinidad & Tobago.

We will start our predictions with the most popular IFBB sport nowadays: women’s bikini fitness. There will be six bikini fitness categories as follows:
    Up to 160 cm
This is a category with one great leader: Romina Basualdo of Argentina, who won two big events in the spring season: Arnold Classic USA (where she won over 54 other girls!) then the first Amateur Olympia Latin America and placed 2nd in overall at both contests. The most serious challengers will be: the British star Nikki Jenkins – finalist of the 2013 Worlds, 2014 Arnold USA and 2014 European Championships as well as 2013 Worlds finalists Lizelle Horn (South Africa). Russian star Olga Blokhina finished 3rd at the 2014 Eastern European Cup but in 163 cm class. Now she has been entered in this category.
    Up to 163 cm
Former great star Oksana Artemova (Russia) returned after a break and returned to her marvelous body condition, taking the 2nd place at the 2014 Arnold USA, where she was tied with the winner Shelagh Paton 8:8, so we can expect that Oksana will show top condition and her natural charm once again, being a favourite in this long category. Then the last year 3rd place winner Agnes Sebestyen (Hungary), and a new star, 4th place winner at the 2014 Amateur Olympia Europe, Marija Naceva (Macedonia). And many semifinalists of the recent top international contests like Lone Norås (Norway), Adenike Endtova (Czech Republic) or Hanna Garbos (Poland).
    Up to 166 cm
Winning the 2nd place at the World Ladies Cup in Kiev, Svetlana Lenivtseva (Moldova) is the main pretender to victory in Madrid. She will be pressed by competitors from the top 10 at various recent events: Elvira Cara (Moldova), Frida Sjöström (Sweden) and Ekaterina Radzhabova (Russia). And what about recently crowned Trinidad & Tobago National Championships overall winner Vanessa Hill? She was called “A born winner” after the contests…
    Up to 169 cm
This category is packed with great stars: top three from the last year’s European Championships: Olga Viazmetinova (Ukraine), Karina Skowrowska (United Kingdom) and Reet Reimets (Estonia) plus 5th place winner Egle Eller-Nabi (Estonia) and Eastern European Cup runner-up Maria Ignatova (Russia). Who will win? Viazmetinova has the best contest history, having a great series of victories this year: World Ladies Cup in Kiev, European Championships in Santa Susanna and Amateur Olympia in Prague. Will anybody stop her?
    Up to 172 cm

Interesting return duel between 2013 ACE 3rd and 4th winners: Gabriella Rákóczi (Hungary) and Victoria Komoza (Russia) plus top two from the 2014 Eastern European Cup: Nelli Moshkina and Daria Zholudeva (both of Russia) and finalist of the 2014 World Ladies Cup Kristina Nuut (Estonia). Will the Siberian champion and former dancer, Moshkina, be ready to challenge the top two? Or, maybe, a new rising Estonian star Kristina Nuut?

    Over 172 cm

Will the sensational winner of the 2014 Arnold USA Liana Moroz (Russia) continue her series of victories? Who can stop her? Her team-mate and 2014 World Ladies Cup winner Kseniia Sheveleva? Or the next Russian: 2014 Eastern European Cup 3rd place winner Evgeniya Uluch (Russia)? 2014 Amateur Olympia Europe 3rd place winner Olivia Pohankova (Slovakia) last year’s ACE 3rd place winner Kathrin Hollmann (Germany) or new Bulgarian star Biliana Yotovska?

IFBB AUTUMN SEASON PACKED WITH INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

    post-6888-0-76591100-1408254070_thumb.jp
Amateur Bodybuilding competition line at the Arnold Classic Europe 2013
Our summary of the IFBB spring season showed that it was the biggest in our history and enriched with new prestigious events, including two “Arnolds”: in Columbus and Rio de Janeiro; two Amateur Olympias: in Prague and Acapulco, two continental championships: Asian in Colombo and European in Santa Susanna, as well as the World Ladies Cup in Kiev.
The autumn season seems to be even bigger and more intense. In some weekends there will be as many as four big IFBB international events! It is really impressive to see that our top events are moving to bigger and bigger venues, over 1000 seats, often reaching 5000 seats auditoriums. Traditionally, four IFBB World Championships will be staged in autumn but the world-level activity will start at the end of September with the Arnold Classic Europe 2014.

Kulturistika mužů do 90 kg představuje zřejmě nejnabitější kulturistickou kategorii celé Olympie.
