New show added in IFBB pro schedule – Valenti Gold Cup – will take place in Florida on 7th – 8th September. Thanks to the new show, -212 BBers, figure, fitness and bikini girls get another chance to qualify to this years Olympia. Also women’s and men’s physique divisions are included, no Olympia spots awarded in those divisions though.

    Competitor lists – http://www.ifbbpro.c…lenti-gold-cup/

A few notes; Ed Correa starts his contest season here and Seth Feroce comes back to -212 after a disappointing showing in open class. Also one of the brightest stars in women’s figure, Erin Stern jumps on stage just a few weeks before the Olympia.

    A few written previews…

    MD writes today;

No one was surprised when Eduardo Correa and Seth Feroce announced their move from the 202 Division to the Open, until the change to 212 was announced. Many expected to hear that both men were going to give the 212 a try, but that would not be the next move for either. Both tried their hand at the open, neither one earning the qualification they were after.

Both men had a stellar year in 2010. Feroce made his pro debut at the Europa SuperShow and nabbed his first pro win in the 202 division. Correa won the 202 division at the Europa Show of Champions and went on to place third at the Olympia 202 Showdown.

Segue to this weekend. Both men have moved to the 212 division, it’s the last show before the Olympia, and neither one is already qualified, and both won their last 202 show. Pride and a qualifying spot are on the line for both men.

But that won’t be the only battle in Sarasota. There’s also one brewing in the pro figure ranks. Its hard to imagine anyone will challenge 2010 Figure Olympia champion Erin Stern for the win, but the top spots will still be hotly contested. Points are on the line, and we won’t know until the weekend is over who gets the nod. Only one pro figure lady is secure, and that is Allison Frahn, the current leader in the points. She’ll compete in California, and more than likely add to her points. Tatiana Koshman will compete in Sarasota. She took third at her pro debut in Dallas just a few weeks ago; if she were to win or place second here, then someone will likely be knocked out of the top five.

The pro bikini line-up is also stacked, led by former FitnessRx cover girl Juliana Daniell, Olympia-qualified Tianna Ta, and rising star Yeshaira Robles. The show also boasts IFBB Pro Fitness, Men’s Physique, and Women’s Physique. In addition, NPC competitors will have the chance to compete in bodybuilding, physique, fitness, figure, and bikini! Stay tuned to MD all weekend long for updates, photos, and results!

Reached out and grabbed it. That’s what Branden Ray did in this workout video at 5 days away from the Valenti Gold Cup. Seeking a 212 Showdown Qualification at the 2012 Olympia, Ray is pulling all the stops to make sure he is conditioned enough to compete against the likes of Eduardo Correa and Seth Feroce.

Focusing on the muscle contraction and adding in brutal super-sets, Branden Ray pushes his body to the limit. Although worn out, yet wired, from low glycogen, he ponders truthfully on the mistakes bodybuilders sometimes make while preparing for contests.

    And the results…

The results // women’s fitness // Valenti Gold Cup 2012

In Fitness, Myriam Capes edged out Camala Rodriguez to win for the first time in her career. Capes, a perennial top-five Olympia with 12 top-five finishes in her career, placed second in the physique round but handily won the routine round to earn the come-from-behind win.

The results // women’s figure // Valenti Gold Cup 2012

Stern, one of the top two competitors in the world and the 2010 Figure Olympia Champion, was the overwhelming precontest favorite and left little doubt that she was the unquestioned winner her. Next up is showdown with two-time Figure Olympia winner Nicole Wilkins in Las Vegas.

Rookie Kamla Macko placed second while Aleisha Hart and Andrea Cantone – two competitors fighting for spots in the top five of the Olympia Qualification Series – placed third and fourth, respectively. Each now have seven points in the standings and will have to wait for results from the Tournament of Champions to see if they did enough to qualify.

    Results // Men’s BB -212 // Valenti Gold Cup 2012

Correa elected to compete in the Open division to start the year and make his 212 debut in Florida – leaving himself little room for error in his bid for a 212 Showdown qualification. But, in a win-or-stay-home scenario, Correa came through, displaying razor-sharp condition on top of a densely-muscled physique to easily outdistance the rest of the field. Correa, who has finished third at each of the past two 212 Showdowns, will enter as a top-three contender once again.

Perhaps the most stunning development to date in the Olympia Qualification Series Standings was Raul Carrasco Jiminez bumping Sami Al Haddad out of the 212 Showdown with his second-place finish. Haddad, the 2011 Amateur Olympia winner, earned five points in the OQS Standings but elected not to compete again before the 212 Showdown. He missed out on a qualification by one point, finishing 6th in the OQS standings.

Charles Dixon placed third while Brandon Ray and Benjamin Nunoz rounded out the top five.
